Terminal 4, Madrid Barajas Airport

From House to City: At London's Design Museum until August 25th this exhibition chronicles the incredible achievements of one of Britain's greatest architects, past and present.

Richard Rogers has enjoyed the most remarkable career in British architecture which started with family house in Cornwall, then changing the shape of post-War architecture with the Pompidou Centre, Lloyd's of London, the Millennium Dome and the National Assembly for Wales. Visit soon and begin your own grand designs. www.designmuseum.org

Vivienne Westwood

The Queen of Preen: Vivienne Westwood – now showing at the Millennium Galleries, Sheffield.

One of the most influential fashion designers of the last 30 years, this is your last chance to see this blockbuster exhibition in the UK before it closes.

Including over 150 exhibits from Westwood's personal archive and the V&A's collections the exhibition spans the extremes of fashion, from the streets of London to the Parisian catwalks, and her own evolution from subversive shop owner to fashion doyenne.

The famous blue mock-croc platform shoes Naomi Campbell wore when she fell on the catwalk in 1993 will be on display, alongside fabulous corsets, the famous Mini-Crini collection, and a wide selection of lavish fashion photography.

For ladies who lunch, Topshop princesses, and tweed-loving gents across the land – essential weekend viewing. www.sheffieldgalleries.org.uk

Not just about jeans! Denim: The Fabric of Our Lives at The Hub national centre for craft and design, Sleaford, is a heck of a show, bringing together more than a hundred examples of denim wear from the C19 to present day, hippie jeans to a haute couture ball gown, plus ephemera of all sorts. Plenty for design and textile lovers of all ages. www.thehubcentre.info

Elephant applique

Get stuck in at the Bowes Museum's embroidery workshops.

Not just for the creative amongst us, the workshops provide the chance to create your own appliqué wall panel inspired by the ceremonial trappings of Indian elephants. The appliqué is made from silk paper and then embellished with ribbons, sequins, beads and stitching. www.thebowesmuseum.org.uk

Aire De Bardenas

Rain rain go away! Is all this rain making you dream of jetting off to sunnier climes this summer for a calm inducing break in stylish surroundings? then we have found a rather lovely chic hotel for you to consider. Aire De Bardenas, Navarra combines contemporary architecture and interior design alongside the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside of the Bardenas Reales National Park (a biosphere reserve).

The single level hotel design is made up of 22 cube shaped rooms, each one with a full glazed window to frame the expansive views. Some rooms feature a private garden, some a large outdoor designer bath while some rooms are designer bungalows set apart from the main complex in the middle of wheat fields.

This is a real gem, surprise someone and they'll be eternally grateful. Honest. www.airedebardenas.com
